Shannon Riley: Riley joined 5 Star Athletics in 2009 as the Director of Operations, Master Instructor, and Strength Coach.  Most recently, Riley continues to work with 5 Star Athletics but has started her own company called Cre8 Change.  Cre8 Change has a unique focus on health and wellness.  Shannon has certifications as a CHEK Practitioner Level II, NeuroKinetic Therapist Level II, NSPA, ACE and has just started massage school at PMTI in Silver Spring, MD.  5 Star Athletics is happy to partner with Shannon and Cre8 Change.  For all your training and health needs please contact Shannon directly: cre8change4u@gmail.com or check out her website www.cre8change4u.com. 

Riley graduated from Mount Saint Mary's University in 20014 where she earned her degree in Business Sports Management.  She received her Master's in Business Administration from the Mount in 2006.  While at the Mount, Riley was a 4 year standout on the soccer team.  She played on year of softball as a 2nd baseman and slapper for the Mountaineer's.  

Erin King: Erin has been coaching with 5 Star Athletics since 2007.  She has an innate ability to connect with young women and motivate them to improve both their mental and physical skills that is further complimented by her professional training. 

King graduated from Dickinson College where she was the starting 3rd basemen.  She was named to the All-Conference team 3 times and in 2010 her team won the Centennial Conference Championship and reached the NCAA regional playoffs.  

Blair Freeman: Blair is a 2009 graduate from St. Bonaventure where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education while she played outfield and was a slapper for the Bonnie's for 4 years.  In 2010, Blair stayed at St. Bonaventure to earn her Master's in Early Childhood Literacy.  After college Blair moved to Maryland to pursue her teaching career with Hartford County Public Schools and began working with the Maryland Black Ice Softball Club based in Cockeysville.  With Black Ice, Blair has worked closely with all teams within the program.  Most recently she has started coaching both the 14U and 16U teams.  Blair is happy to share her passion and love for the game.  

​Karlyn "Bec" Buker: Buker graduated from the University of Tampa in 2014 with a Sports Management degree.  While at Tampa, her team won their conference in 2012 and 2014.  They also made NCAA Regional appearances in all of her four years there.  Buker earned the minaret scholarship for UT which was awarded based on her academics, leadership, and community service.  She also served as the SAC representative for her team.  

During her time at UT, she interned at the International Softball Federation, working directly under the Director of Competitions.  She has also worked part-time as a tournament director.  Buker has attended 5 Star camps since she was 8 and worked her way up the "ranks".  Most recently, Buker accepted the position as pitching coach for Mount Saint Mary's University.  Congrats Bec! We look forward to her returning to the area for seasonal camps and clinics!

Emma Schultz: Emma graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology.  She primarily played shortstop and second base during her 4 years with the Royals.  Emma was named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Team in 2013 and the Southern Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2014.  Emma is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Marine Sciences at Savannah State University.  She started attending 5 Star clinic when she was 12 years old.  Emma began working at 5 Star as an intern in 2012 and has continued helping with summer camps ever since.  She loves working with the campers and developing their skills and love for the game. 


Lynn Pronobis: Lynn graduated from UMBC.  She completed her eligibility following the 2011 season.  She split time between left and center field during her 4 years there, and was ranked 19th in the nation for stolen bases her senior season.  She was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll during her 2010 season.  Pronobis specializes in team and group instruction. 

Jessica Mattia:  Jessica graduated from Virginia State University in December 2014 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriculture with a concentration in Animal Science. Mattia now coaches at Delaware State University. She is the assistant to former Maryland coach and stand out player Amber Jackson. While pitching at VSU, Jessica broke many records at the University and the Conference level. Jess was a 3 time selection for the CIAA All- Conference and All- Tournament team. During her senior year, she earned the CIAA Player of the Year and Virginia State University’s Female Athlete of the Year. After completing her four years of colligate ball, Jessica earned the NCAA’s Completion Scholarship Award to finish her academic career. Jess has been attending 5 Star camps since the age of 9. She started working camps and clinics in 2010.

5 Star Athletics staffs an elite level of instructors, all boasting college playing and/or coaching careers.  All instructors have been personally trained by Callaway.  The following are a list of colleges from which they represent: Barton College, Cabrini College, Catholic University, Dickinson College, Georgetown University, James Madison University, Lock Haven University, Lynn University, University of Maryland, Mount Saint Mary's University, Salisbury University, Shippensburg University, University of Tampa, Towson University, UMBC, University of Virginia, Virginia State University, Virginia Tech, West Virginia University.  In addition to our staff, guest instructors from a number of other colleges are frequently present at our clinics. 


Jillian Callaway: 5 Star Athletics founder Jillian Callaway, is in her 16th year.  Callaway's true passion is working with the youth in the DC Metro Area.  She is very grateful for her two coaching stints she had with her alma mater, the University of Maryland. Home is where the heart is: and Callaway couldn't be more proud to call 5 Star Athletics her true home.  Callaway was also nominated in the ASA Hall of Fame in November 2012. 

Callaway graduated from the University of Maryland in 2003 with a B.S. in Communications.  During her collegiate career as a Terrapin, Callaway played nearly every position on the field and amassed a 0.988 fielding percentage while batting 0.300 at the plate.  She was honored with the M Club President's Cup Aware for Academic Achievement and ACC Top Six for Service Award, and was also selected to the Verizon All-Academic 2nd team. 

In her first year after graduation, she worked as a softball instructor at Planet Fastpitch in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, New England's largest exclusive fastpitch softball facility.  Callaway moved back to her roots to take the assistant coaching position at her alma mater in the Fall of 2004.  She helped the Terrapins to another winning season while promoting character and poise, which won them the ACC Sportsmanship Award for the 2005 season. Callaway continued on as the pitching coach in the fall of 2005 under new Terrapin Coach Laura Watten.  She also coached under Watten again for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.  Callaway played an integral part in leading the Terps to its most wins in the ACC in Maryland history. 

Lauren Robison: Lauren has been a part of the 5 Star Athletics family since she was 12.  In 2012, Lauren joined 5 Star Athletics on a  full time basis.  Her energy, passion, and knowledge for the game make her a perfect fit for her role as Master Instructor.  Studying under Callaway for the past decade, Robison has developed the skill set for teaching all aspects of the game.  She has truly become one of the top instructors in the country.  5 Star Athletics couldn't be more proud to have her as part of the family. 

Robison is also a teacher at Calvert High School in Calvert County, MD.  She graduated from James Madison University in 2011 with a Kinesiology degree, where she played 3rd base and was a 4-time JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete.
