5 Star Athletics is NOT a recruiting service. However, as a former Division I athlete and coach, and now as a full time clinician, we know what it takes to be recruited. We know what the process is, what the rules are, and what the coaches do want to see and what they don't want to see. We have currently teamed up with Top Prospect Network, Inc. TPN makes it easy to be proactive and showcase yourself to the College Coaches. Each year the recruiting process becomes increasingly more competitive and it is essential that prospective recruits maximize their opportunities.

Teaming up with TPN provides 5 Star Athletics with a way for our clients to continue taking the lead in their recruiting process while at the same time receiving the recruiting consultation and guidance necessary for success through 5 Star Athletics. TPN lets you connect with every college softball program in the country. Additionally it provides new avenues through the “TPN Recruiting Specialists Network” for us to generate ongoing recruiting leads for our clients. This will help give our clients the advantage and increase the number of scholarship options they have throughout their recruiting process. 5 Star Athletics offers various TPN Recruiting Packages to fit most every budget.

In addition to TPN Packages for the Individual Player, 5 Star Athletics also offers several TPN Team Account options. A TPN Team Account provides the team’s coach with his own TPN Recruiting Management System and also provides each team member with their own TPN System. Here are some frequently asked questions about the recruiting process and our answers to them.

When should you start the recruiting process?

The earlier the better. You become a PSA(Prospective Student Athlete) at the start of your Freshman year in High School. Start looking at schools, visiting campuses, gathering information, so you can know what you are looking for in a school. As you get closer to graduation, narrow your search.

What should I do?

You should visit campuses and attend clinics of schools you're interested in. You should also send letters/emails to coaches of the schools you are interested in. While the NCAA rules do not allow specific correspondence until September of your Junior year of High School, it is still good for coaches to know who you are with a player profile(a softball/sports resume). *TIP* TPN can REALLY help you with this.

How do you shoot a video?

Did someone say video?!?! 5 Star Athletics proudly announces we shoot, tape, and edit college skills videos. Everything is now in house, so we can ensure the personal touch and attention to your video that we are known for.

What we do: We set up a date and field location with you the athlete, and begin the taping process. This typically take 1-1.5 hrs, up to 2 for pitchers. We will tape your hitting skills, position skills(up to 2), and anything else that showcases your skills. Again, we have been here and we know what coaches want to see, TRUST us. You will get personal instruction during the shoot, and we tape until its right. This is done on an individual basis, not in groups.

What you do: Send us an email with available dates and times, and a field preference if you have one available to you. Practice so you are as good as you can be. Wear a uniform to the day of the shoot. Doing your hair is OPTIONAL! DO NOT FORGET TO BRING A VIDEO RELEASE FORM! This can be found on the forms page of our website. Bring a friend/brother/sister/teammate/Mom or Dad to help shag or catch balls. Lastly, RELAX and just have fun, you're only on camera!

How we edit and when do you get your tape: We take your video, cut out all the bad stuff, put cool music on it(if you want), and put in some cool slow motion effects. We do our best to get this done as quickly as possible...usually about a week. The option to upload your video on YouTube is also available.

Cost: We charge $300($325 for pitchers) for this entire process. $250 if you are a TPN 5 Star Athletics Account holder!! It's very time consuming, each video taping is about 1-2 hours, and video editing is somewhere between a 3-5 hour process. You can also request extra copies with names and labels for $5 each.

What you do with your videos: Send your video to colleges that you are interested in. TPN can do this for you and you can also post on your TPN profile page. Set up unofficial visits(a visit to the college campus where you make all accomodations and arrangements...colleges are not allowed to compensate anything you do while on or off campus during your trip). Keep up contact with coaching staff by email and sending updated information.

All of this sounds confusing?: No problem! 5 Star Athletics has been offering recruiting seminars for years. Again, nobody knows the rules better than a former player and coach...I've been in both shoes!

5 Star Athletics can come to your school, practice, or team dinner and give you the complete run down. This takes approximately 1.5 hours and questions are welcome. We recommend both parents and athletes attend. Cost is $175 to come to your location. Remember it can be a small group or for a whole organization.
