Bowie 2012 Spring Training
All new design!!! On a schedule? Can't commit? Going on vacation? Whatever your issue is, we split up this clinic into 7 separate weeks. You can register for exactly what you want, or register for all of them to get the ultimate prep time for your Spring Tryout. Open to all Girl Softball Players ages 8-18. All clinics will run 7:30-9pm at Bowie High School Gym.

WED Jan 11, 2012: Infield Training- Learn how to throw, field, make plays, infield style. What do I mean by that? Well the infield throw must be shorter, more compact, quicker, and we must field the ball cleanly. The average high school baserunner takes 3.5 secs to get down to first, as infielders we need to be quick to get that out. Who should come? Anyone who wants to sharpen their infield game. You will need your own glove, and wear tennis shoes. 

WED Jan 18, 2012: Hitting Clinic- Focus on this clinic is teaching. Learn the best and proper techniques to boost your batting average. You will spend lots of time learning different drills to perfect that swing. The timing of this clinic is perfect, gives you plenty of time to practice your skills before the big tryout. Who should come? Hitters or slappers looking to boost their average. All batters will need their own helmet and bat. Tennis shoes required.

WED Jan 25, 2012: Pitching Clinic- For the Beginner to the Advanced Pitcher. We will be splitting up into groups based on your individual needs. We will have enough instructors to make sure you get plenty of personal attention. Whether you are looking for basic techniques or trying to master your next pitch, we have you covered. Who should come? Pitchers of all skill levels looking for tips and drills to improve their ERA. All Pitchers will need their own catcher. Catchers under 18 need to be in gear (except shin guards, knee pads ok). Pitcher will need their own glove and wear tennis shoes.

WED Feb 1, 2012: Outfield Training- Outfield is not just for those who are not good enough for the infield any more. Good outfielders have recently become in high demand. You are the last line of defense, and we are here to help you learn to be the best you can be. How to throw like an outfielder (aka have a cannon to gun someone out at home), best method to catching the ball, fielding line drives and short hops, and do or die plays. Outfield is skill, come learn. Who should come? Outfielders who want to bring the attention to the grass. Outfielders need to bring their own glove and wear tennis shoes.

WED Feb 8, 2012: Beteyah Tournament- A fast paced game from the Dominican Republic to help improve your batting eye. The "Beteyah" can rise, drop, curve, screw, and your goal is to drive the disc with a stick bat. Okay, still don't know what we are talking about, look it up, Youtube. This game is difficult and guarenteed to improve your eye. We will split up players into age and skill appropriate groups to play a one day tournament. Want to enter as a team? Sure, 4-6 players per team. Who should come? Anyone looking for an exciting way to work on hitting strikes. All players will need their own glove and wear tennis shoes. Helmet and bat not required. 

WED Feb 22, 2012: Live Pitching/ Live Catching and Live Hitting- 3 different skills offered. Pitchers will pitch live to batters, instructors will be providing instruction on pitch selection and best way to attack the batter, Pitchers will need their own glove, wear tennis shoes, and be prepared to field balls coming back up the middle at them. Catchers will catch live pitchers and work on framing, blocking, and throwing the ball down for steals. Instructors will be providing feedback. Catchers will need full gear, no skins knee pads ok. And finally Hitters, hitters will get several at bats facing live pitchers. Perfect for preseason, best way to get your coaches attention, hit the ball. Hitters will need their own helmet, bat, and tennis shoes.
